Albuquerque double shooting leaves one dead, suspect identified

Albuquerque police have identified Peter Garcia, 43, as the suspect in a double shooting that left 27-year-old Donald Slydell Jr. dead. Garcia shot Slydell and his mother before being killed by a security guard. The incident occurred early Tuesday when Slydell and his family were sleeping in their vehicle. Garcia shot Slydell and his mother, then stole their car before crashing it nearby. The mother was injured but is recovering in the hospital. Police do not plan to charge the security guard who shot Garcia during the confrontation.
