Alec Baldwin films in Sorrento after dropped charges
Alec Baldwin was spotted on a movie set in Sorrento, Italy, on Friday. This marked his first public appearance since manslaughter charges against him were dropped. The 66-year-old actor was filming scenes for his new project titled "Last Night in Sorrento." Baldwin wore a gray camp shirt over a red T-shirt along with dark slacks as he arrived on set. Later, he was seen in a tan trench coat for scenes that appeared to take place at a sidewalk cafe. The film is inspired by the classic 1970s TV show "Columbo" and is directed by Alessandro Derviso. In January, Baldwin filed a civil lawsuit against officials in New Mexico, alleging malicious prosecution after he faced involuntary manslaughter charges. These charges stemmed from a tragic incident in 2021, where he fired a gun that was mistakenly loaded with real bullets, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. The lawsuit claims prosecutors targeted Baldwin for personal or political reasons. Recently, the court dismissed the case due to evidence being withheld by the prosecution. Baldwin is seeking damages, including punitive and compensatory, as he continues to work on his film, which is set to be featured at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
