Alex Bowman admits fault for losing Homestead race
Alex Bowman has admitted he made a mistake during the NASCAR Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami, which cost him a chance to win. Bowman's teammate, Kyle Larson, took the victory after Bowman hit the wall late in the race. Bowman had been in a strong position, taking the lead after passing Bubba Wallace. However, with just seven laps left, his car hit the wall in Turns 3 and 4. This damaged his #48 Chevrolet but he managed to finish the race in second place. After the race, Bowman reflected on his performance. He said he felt he "choked" away the win and acknowledged the impact of his error. He expressed regret for making it easier for Larson to take the victory. Despite the disappointment, Bowman feels his team deserves better. He noted that they had a strong race overall, but he struggled to maintain the speed he had during a previous tire test in 2024. Bowman led the race for 43 laps, marking his first Cup Series podium finish this year. He recognized Larson as a top competitor and expressed a desire to win more trophies in the future.
