Ali Fedotowsky's dog completed radiation treatment for cancer
Ali Fedotowsky, a former Bachelorette star, recently shared her family's decision to provide radiation treatment for their dog, Owen, who is suffering from cancer. On March 21, she expressed her pride in Owen's completion of treatment through an Instagram post, highlighting the challenges they faced along the way. Fedotowsky explained that choosing radiation was difficult due to multiple factors. Owen had to undergo six vet visits requiring anesthesia each time. She noted that Owen gets anxious at the vet, which made the decision even harder. Since Nashville does not have a radiation oncology unit for dogs, they traveled to Chattanooga for treatment. During their time in Chattanooga, Fedotowsky made sure Owen was comfortable. He stayed in a pet-friendly hotel and enjoyed special meals. She shared that while the trip was challenging, she wanted to help Owen as much as possible. Owen has a large brain tumor, and without treatment, his neurologist estimated he might only have about a month to live. Fedotowsky felt she had to do everything she could to extend his life. After research and consultation with a specialist, she learned that the treatments could potentially give Owen an additional 1.5 to 2 years of good life. While the radiation cannot cure Owen's cancer, it aims to shrink the tumor or slow its growth. Fedotowsky confirmed they would closely monitor him for any side effects and hoped he would enjoy more quality time with his family. Recently, she returned home with Owen, who was tired but content in his familiar surroundings. Despite the emotional and financial stress, Fedotowsky expressed her unwavering commitment to Owen and reiterated the importance of cherishing every moment they share.
