Alioto's Restaurant in Etna to close March 31

Alioto’s Restaurant & Sports Bar in Etna will close its doors permanently on March 31. The owner, Lilli Mosco, has run the restaurant since 2009. She said rising costs, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, made it hard for the business to keep operating. Originally founded by Frank Alioto in the 1970s, Alioto's has been a beloved spot for the local community. Mosco noted that managing the restaurant day-to-day fell largely to Jacie D’Amico, her late husband's niece. When Jeff passed away in 2009, Lilli became the sole owner. Mosco shared that the decision to close was very emotional for her. She understands what the restaurant has meant to the community and expressed gratitude for the loyal customers and staff. Many locals have taken to social media to share their memories and feelings about the closure. Etna's manager, Mary Ellen Ramage, voiced her sadness over the closure. She described Alioto's as a "staple of decades upon decades" and acknowledged its vibrant presence in the community. While she respects the decision, she emphasized that the restaurant will be greatly missed. Mosco is considering a farewell event for the restaurant, but no specific details have been announced yet.
