All Canadian NHL teams in playoffs except Flames
Last night, the NHL had nine games. The Montreal Canadiens played and won against the Ottawa Senators. The Vancouver Canucks also secured a victory over the Winnipeg Jets, holding the last playoff spot in the Western Conference. As of March 19, all Canadian teams except the Calgary Flames are in playoff positions. The Flames won their match against the New York Rangers, but they are still two points behind the Canucks and out of the top eight slots. In the Eastern Conference, the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Ottawa Senators are all in playoff contention. The Edmonton Oilers celebrated a big win, reaching 40 victories this season. They defeated the Utah team 7-1. Connor McDavid led the Oilers with one goal and two assists. Meanwhile, Leon Draisaitl’s point streak ended with the loss. Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins made history by surpassing Wayne Gretzky for the fourth-most points scored with one franchise. He achieved this milestone with his 1670th point during a game that the Penguins lost to the New York Islanders, who won 4-2. In other games, the Washington Capitals and the Calgary Flames helped the Canadiens' playoff hopes. The Capitals beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-1, while the Flames secured a narrow 2-1 win against the Rangers. Lastly, Michael McCarron of the St. Louis Blues was ejected from his game for a major penalty after a hard hit. The Blues won that match 4-1. Several teams will be back in action tonight, continuing the race for the playoffs.
