Allahabad High Court Chief Justice alters Justice Yadav's roster after controversial speech
The Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court has changed Justice Shekhar Yadav's judicial roster just days after his controversial speech at a Vishwa Hindu Parishad event. Starting December 16, Yadav will only hear civil appeals from before 2010. Previously, Yadav handled significant bail applications in serious criminal cases. His speech, which included inflammatory remarks about the Uniform Civil Code and comparisons between Hinduism and Islam, drew widespread criticism and prompted calls for an inquiry and impeachment. The Supreme Court has acknowledged the controversy surrounding Yadav's comments. The Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Reforms has requested an internal investigation into his conduct.
