Allahabad University relaxes undergraduate admission criteria

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

Allahabad University has relaxed its admission criteria for undergraduate courses. This change comes after the National Testing Agency made adjustments to the requirements for entrance exams. Previously, students applying for the BA-LLB program needed to take a legal knowledge test. Similarly, those seeking admission to BFA Fine Arts and BPA had to choose a music subject. Now, these specific subject requirements have been removed, allowing greater flexibility for applicants. Admissions will be based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), scheduled to take place from May 8 to June 1. The test will award five points for each correct answer and deduct one point for each incorrect answer. Prof. JK Pati, the Director of Admissions at AU, explained the new admission process. For courses like BA-LLB (Hons) and BFA, students still need to take English or Hindi and a general aptitude test. However, for the third subject, students can choose from a list of around 22 subjects. This list includes options such as Accountancy, Biology, Economics, History, and Sociology. Students can select one subject from the list to meet the new admission requirements for their chosen courses. Other programs, like the Five Year Integrated Programme in Family & Community Sciences and BSc courses, also have similar relaxed requirements. Students must still complete compulsory subjects but have a range of options for their third subject.
