Allegheny County investigates Pittsburgh Mills owner for misconduct

The Allegheny County District Attorney's office has launched a criminal investigation into Namdar Realty Group, which owns the Pittsburgh Mills shopping center in Frazer. This comes as Namdar is already facing a civil lawsuit related to the poor condition of roads at the site. On Friday, the District Attorney’s office confirmed that search warrants were executed as part of the investigation. Rebecca Spangler, the first assistant district attorney, stated they cannot provide more details at this time. Namdar Realty has not responded to media inquiries about the situation. The investigation may be linked to a road maintenance fee that many businesses at Pittsburgh Mills pay. Shoppers have been unhappy with the roads, which have many potholes. A Facebook group called “Pittsburgh Mills Mess” was created for people to share their frustrations about the road conditions. Recently, a paving company repaired one road in the shopping area, but it is unclear who funded the work. Walmart confirmed it paid for some pothole repairs behind their store to help their delivery trucks. Namdar Realty, based in New York City, owns around 400 commercial properties across the country. The company is known for acquiring struggling retail sites but often does not invest significantly in their maintenance. Since the roads are private property owned by Namdar, local and state officials cannot repair them, leading to a civil suit against the company from Frazer over the roads being a public nuisance. This case is still pending in court.
