Alonso rejects Horner's concerns over recovery vehicles
Fernando Alonso has responded to recent concerns about safety during the Australian Grand Prix. After his crash, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner criticized the use of recovery vehicles on the track while cars were still racing. During the race in Melbourne, several drivers, including Alonso, crashed, creating a need for recovery efforts. Under normal conditions at purpose-built tracks, cranes can be used. However, at street circuits like Albert Park, recovery trucks are the only option available. Horner expressed concern about the presence of recovery vehicles while cars were circulating. He stated that it is not ideal and noted that the conditions were slippery, making it difficult for drivers to maintain control. Horner also mentioned that the teams were informed about the situation, but some drivers were not aware of the risks. Alonso, who crashed at Turn Six, seemed unfazed by Horner's comments. He acknowledged that recovery at Melbourne can be challenging, but he believes the situation was managed correctly. He mentioned that drivers need to follow specific rules regarding lap times, especially when recovery vehicles are present. Alonso concluded that everything was under control and did not see it as a serious issue.
