Alumni group seeks to reopen closed Wells College
A group of alumni, the Cleveland Commission for Wells, has submitted a bid to buy Wells College, which closed unexpectedly in April 2024. They aim to restore the 156-year-old institution and focus on liberal arts education. The Commission, formed by alumni from various decades, plans to utilize the college's 127-acre campus and its ecological resources. Their bid was submitted on March 13, 2025, as part of efforts to preserve the college's legacy. To support their restoration efforts, the alumni group is seeking public pledges and donations. They encourage supporters to contact the New York State Attorney General’s office to back their bid for the college.
