Ambala IMT project progresses with new budget proposal
The Ambala Industrial Model Township (IMT) project is set to move forward, as announced by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. In the recent budget, he revealed plans to develop the IMT on 800 acres of land in Ambala city. This announcement comes as part of a broader commitment, as Saini also proposed establishing ten new IMTs similar to the one in Kharkhoda. Former minister Aseem Goel welcomed the CM's announcement. He believes the IMT will transform Ambala into a more developed city and provide significant benefits to local businesses. The project has been on hold for over ten years. It gained attention during the previous Congress rule, when Venod Sharma was the local MLA. The project has faced delays due to political issues within Congress. Despite necessary steps being taken, it has been difficult to start. In November 2024, the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) identified 850 acres in three villages as suitable for the IMT. Farmers have responded positively, with 426 offering around 2,076 acres of land. HSIIDC plans to purchase this land, with 850 acres in Naggal, Nadiali, and Khaira villages confirmed for the project. This IMT aims to provide various advanced facilities to support local industry.
