AMD's RX 9000 series launches March 6, 2025
AMD has announced its RX 9000 series graphics cards, featuring the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070, set to launch on March 6. This follows a lengthy wait since the initial tease at CES 2025. The RX 9070 XT boasts 64 compute units, a boost clock nearing 3GHz, and 16GB of VRAM. The RX 9070 has slightly lower specs, with 56 compute units and a maximum clock speed of 2.52GHz. Both cards use GDDR6 memory. AMD claims the RX 9070 XT will compete with Nvidia's RTX 5070 Ti, while the RX 9070 offers significant performance improvements over previous models. The new GPUs also feature enhanced ray tracing and AI capabilities, built on a 4nm process.
