American Airlines experiences holiday flight delays due to vendor tech issue
American Airlines experienced a brief groundstop on Christmas Eve due to a technical issue with DXC Technology, a vendor managing its flight systems. The problem lasted about an hour but has since been resolved. As a result of the glitch, only 37% of American Airlines flights were on time by early afternoon, with most delays under two hours. The airline had 3,320 domestic and 581 international flights scheduled for the day. Despite the disruptions, American Airlines canceled only 19 flights, maintaining a typical cancellation rate. The incident follows previous technical issues faced by other airlines, including Delta and Southwest.
