Americans support downsizing government but disapprove of Musk

New polls show that while Americans support the idea of downsizing the federal government, they disapprove of how Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) are implementing these changes. A Quinnipiac poll revealed that 60% disapprove of DOGE's handling of federal workers. Despite a slight majority viewing the creation of DOGE positively, 47% have negative feelings towards it. Additionally, 59% oppose the mass firing of federal employees, with many believing that Trump and Musk have gone too far in their spending cuts. Public opinion on Musk himself is also low, with only 39% viewing him positively. Recent surveys indicate that many Americans feel DOGE's actions could harm the country, prompting Trump to shift responsibility for downsizing to Cabinet secretaries.
