Amit Shah meets with chief ministers to address Naxal violence and development efforts

Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting on October 7, 2024, with chief ministers from states affected by Naxal violence. This meeting followed a recent operation in Chhattisgarh where security forces killed 31 Naxalites. The discussion focused on anti-Naxal operations and development initiatives in these regions. Officials noted a significant reduction in Left Wing Extremism violence, with a 72% decrease and an 86% drop in deaths since 2010. In 2024, over 230 Naxal cadres have been killed, and 723 have surrendered. The government is enhancing infrastructure, having built 14,400 km of roads and installed nearly 6,000 mobile towers in affected areas.
