Amitabh Kant becomes chairperson of NIIT University

NIIT University has appointed Amitabh Kant as its new chairperson, effective March 10, 2025. Kant is the former CEO of NITI Aayog, where he led several key initiatives, including the Atal Innovation Mission. He takes over from K Kasturirangan, a well-known scientist. Kant expressed his excitement about joining NIIT University, highlighting its focus on industry-linked education. He emphasized the importance of universities in fostering innovation and preparing students for future job opportunities. NIIT University has established partnerships with over 700 companies, including IBM, Tata Consultancy Services, and Deloitte. These collaborations have helped the university achieve 100% student placement since its founding. The president of NIIT University, Prakash Gopalan, stated that Kant's leadership will enhance their commitment to technology and industry collaboration. This will aid in developing a skilled workforce ready for future challenges.
