Andhra Pradesh aids rain-hit banana farmers with subsidies
The Andhra Pradesh government will support banana farmers affected by heavy rain. Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu announced that farmers will receive a total of ₹1,10,000 per hectare. This amount includes an input subsidy of ₹35,000 and ₹75,000 for replanting crops. Rains have damaged various crops, including banana, corn, papaya, and paddy. The government is taking steps to help those who suffered losses. Officials have already visited districts like Anantapur, Sathya Sai, Kadapa, and Prakasam to assess crop damage. The enumeration process to evaluate losses will start soon in other regions. The Minister assured farmers that they should not worry. He emphasized that the government is here to support every single farmer. Atchannaidu also criticized the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government for not providing assistance during similar crises. He claimed that under the leadership of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, farmers received no aid when they faced losses from bad weather.
