Andhra Pradesh expects summer showers and temperature dip

thehindu.com

Parts of Andhra Pradesh have been facing severe heatwaves since early March. Areas like Alluri Sitarama Raju, Parvathipuram Manyam, and others in the northern region have felt the intense heat, with daytime temperatures reaching high levels. From March 22 to 24, however, some relief may come in the form of summer showers in isolated areas across North and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. The state has not issued severe heatwave alerts for March 19 and 20, which is a change after weeks of intense heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a forecast of rain due to certain weather systems forming above the region. The forecast suggests a slight drop in temperatures, expected to be around 1°C to 2°C, especially in North and South Coastal regions. Experts note that while rainfall will likely provide some cooling, significant temperature changes are not expected in Rayalaseema. Isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are also predicted for March 22 and 23. Recent temperature readings showed highs of 42.7°C in Devalapuram and 42.6°C in Ulindakonda, highlighting the heat conditions before the expected rain.
