The Group of Ministers (GoM) in Andhra Pradesh has decided to create district-level committees to address land-related issues. This decision was made during a meeting led by Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad in Amaravati. The meeting included several other government ministers. Minister Satya Prasad reported that the committee discussed five main topics: freehold land, 22A lands, the housing-for-all scheme, land regularization, and the Andhra Pradesh Non-Agricultural Lands Assessment Act (NALA). They plan to make important decisions on these matters at another meeting scheduled for April 16. The Revenue Minister mentioned irregularities found in about five lakh acres of freehold land. Solutions for these problems were discussed, and a final decision will be made in the next meeting. Additionally, Mr. Satya Prasad said there would be an investigation into land allocation irregularities from the previous YSRCP government, especially concerning the housing-for-all scheme. The government is also working on a new policy to help provide housing titles to the poor and to manage unauthorized constructions. They are looking to amend NALA regulations to speed up approvals and support both the poor and business growth. The goal is to implement land reforms that promote social welfare while also encouraging economic development.
