Andhra Pradesh government unveils ₹2.94 lakh crore budget for 2024-25 financial year
The Andhra Pradesh Government has announced a budget of ₹2.94 lakh crore for the 2024-25 financial year. This includes ₹2.35 lakh crore for revenue expenditure and ₹32,712 crore for capital expenditure. The fiscal deficit is projected at 4.19% of the Gross State Domestic Product. Key allocations include ₹11,855 crore for agriculture, ₹39,007 crore for backward classes, and ₹18,487 crore for scheduled castes. The government also plans to provide 25 lakh houses for the economically weaker sections and has launched a scheme for free LPG cylinders for eligible families. The Finance Minister criticized the previous administration for financial mismanagement, citing unpaid liabilities of over ₹1.35 lakh crore. The government aims to improve infrastructure in Amaravati and enhance welfare programs for women and children.
