Andhra Pradesh to establish two new open universities
The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, announced plans to establish two new open universities: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University and Potti Sriramulu Open University. He spoke about these plans during a meeting with K. Madhumurthy, the Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE), and Velaga Joshi, an officer in charge of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University. Mr. Naidu said that a high-level meeting would be organized soon to discuss the details of these universities. He also mentioned that issues regarding salaries for staff at both universities would be resolved quickly. The Chief Minister highlighted the need to improve educational standards and asked APSCHE to introduce new courses aimed at creating job opportunities for young people. Additionally, Mr. Naidu plans to meet with business leaders across the state to explore how education can be better aligned with job markets. He stressed that APSCHE should develop a curriculum that tackles unemployment effectively. The government is also making efforts to invite foreign universities to set up branches in Andhra Pradesh, aiming to enhance the education quality and job prospects for local students.
