Andhra Pradesh has announced the establishment of 125 specialized autism centers to support students with autism-related challenges. This makes it the first state in India to set up such centers, as stated by Samagra Shiksha Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao. The central government has approved a budget of ₹2,361 crore for the Samagra Shiksha project in Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, it has allocated ₹454 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme in the state. Officials from the central government praised the initiative and mentioned that they would consider implementing similar programs in other states. The funds will be used to enhance Bhavita Kendras, which provide special training for disabled children. Four regional vocational hubs will offer training to vocational teachers. Schools in the state, including Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and PM SHRI schools, will also be equipped with solar geysers and CCTV cameras for safety. The Samagra Shiksha has invited applications for girl students to enroll in Classes 6 and 11. There are also vacancies in Classes 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 at 352 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas for the 2025-26 academic year. The online application period runs from March 22 to April 11, 2025. Eligible applicants include orphaned girls, out-of-school children, school dropouts, and economically disadvantaged girls from SC, ST, BC, minority communities, and Below Poverty Line households. Only online applications submitted through the website will be accepted. Selected students will be notified by text messages, and the selection list will be posted on school notice boards. For assistance, applicants can contact provided phone numbers.
