Andrew Castle approved to build £5m mansion in Surrey
Andrew Castle, a former Wimbledon player and TV pundit, has received permission to build a luxury mansion in Surrey. The proposed home will cost around £5 million. Castle plans to replace a small 1930s cottage with a much larger, modern property. The new house will have four bedrooms, a gym, and a swimming pool. Castle's neighbors had expressed concerns about the development. They described it as "inappropriate" and "unacceptable." Despite the objections, planning officers approved the project, stating it would not negatively impact the area or nearby homes. Castle bought the old cottage for £3.75 million last year. His new plans include a two-story, 5,700 square foot home. The mansion will feature a spacious master bedroom, a kitchen, and an outdoor pool with a sauna. Although the neighbors requested the project be denied, their objections were dismissed. Planning officers noted that the design was acceptable and would not harm the character of the neighborhood. They did impose 13 conditions on the construction to address some issues.
