A man who escaped from a federal prison in Oregon in 2022 has received an additional two-year prison sentence. Andrew Cain Kristovich, 41, was serving a five-year sentence for drug trafficking when he broke out. His escape was discovered during a bunk count on April 25, 2022. While on the run, Kristovich is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Washington state. The woman reported that she picked him up after he claimed he was being released early. He later stole her car, phone, and purse. The stolen vehicle was found abandoned two days later. Kristovich was arrested in Carson City, Nevada, on May 14, 2022. Authorities also found a rifle in his possession at the time. He had previously been convicted of trafficking heroin, methamphetamine, and fake oxycodone pills. In court on Monday, Kristovich pleaded guilty to escaping from custody. U.S. District Judge Michael H. Simon issued the new sentence following a recommendation from both the prosecutor and his defense lawyer. Kristovich still faces several charges in Washington, including second-degree rape and robbery.
