Android 16 release expected after April 2025

Android 16 is set to be released in a few weeks. It is in the final stages of development, following an earlier release schedule compared to previous versions. Google's focus for this update is on performance and functionality rather than major visual changes. The stable version of Android 16 is expected to be available after April, with speculation that it may be announced during the Google I/O developer conference on May 20. Currently, the beta version is only available for Google's Pixel phones, starting from the Pixel 6 and newer models. New features in Android 16 include notifications with live updates, which will show real-time progress for food deliveries and ride-hailing services. Another feature called Audio Sharing will allow users to share audio between multiple Bluetooth headphones. The adaptive refresh rate will reduce battery consumption by allowing screens to adjust their refresh rates based on the content being displayed. Google is also enhancing haptic feedback controls for app developers, providing richer vibrations for different actions. Android 16 will include a revamped Easter egg game, improved camera controls, and advanced video recording options. A significant addition is the ability to store and share health records via the Health Connect app. Moreover, Android 16 will introduce ambient mode for Bluetooth hearing aids, making automatic volume adjustments based on noise levels. There are also plans for a native desktop mode, which may be showcased during the upcoming developer conference.
