Android phones gain free Auracast audio broadcasting feature
Google has announced that Android now supports Auracast, a Bluetooth feature that allows devices to broadcast audio to multiple receivers, including hearing aids. This upgrade aims to assist those with hearing impairments in various settings. Currently, Samsung Galaxy smartphones running UI 7 or Android 15, and Google Pixel 9 smartphones on the Android 16 beta, are compatible with Auracast. Users can customize audio settings for hearing aids when connected to Auracast streams. While primarily beneficial for those with hearing difficulties, Auracast can also enhance experiences for all users, such as tuning into muted TVs in public places. The technology's adoption is growing, but widespread use depends on public venues implementing it.
