Angel Reese highlights WNBA salary struggles in basketball
Angel Reese's basketball career is taking off, and she recently celebrated her team’s championship title. The victory earned each player a $50,000 bonus, despite Reese missing the playoffs due to a wrist injury. She played a key role in her team's success, winning the Unrivaled Defensive Player of the Year award during the season. Excited about the bonus, Reese shared her thoughts on social media, saying, “50K NEED DATTTTT.” Soon after, a teammate jokingly reached out to her, asking if she needed help spending the money. Reese responded humorously but firmly, explaining that the bonus was important to her and more than half of her rookie contract, which is $73,439. Reese has been open about financial struggles in the WNBA. She pointed out that her monthly rent is $8,000, making it clear that her league salary does not cover her living expenses. She highlighted the pay gap between female and male basketball players, emphasizing that her WNBA paycheck doesn't pay for her bills.
