Anil Agarwal supports increased fossil fuel production in India

Anil Agarwal, the founder of Vedanta Ltd, recently endorsed the slogan "Drill Baby Drill," originally by former U.S. President Donald Trump. He believes this concept should be applied in India to boost the country’s energy independence. Agarwal shared his views on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. He pointed out that the global recognition of Trump's slogan highlights a race among nations to secure energy and critical minerals. He argues that increasing fossil fuel production in India can help create jobs and fight poverty. He praised the Indian government's proactive approach towards energy independence. Agarwal believes that a focus on energy and mineral security will promote economic growth in India. He stated that India's rich geological resources could make it a leader in this sector and help achieve a developed India, referred to as "Viksit Bharat." Donald Trump recently reiterated his "Drill Baby Drill" policy in his inauguration speech, emphasizing domestic oil production as a solution to rising inflation and energy prices. He announced intentions to declare a national energy emergency and expand drilling in key U.S. oil and gas regions, while also mentioning the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Climate Treaty.
