Anjuna man arrested for drug possession worth Rs 9L
Karan Govekar, a 33-year-old man from Anjuna, was arrested by Goa's anti-narcotic cell (ANC) on Sunday. He is accused of possessing synthetic drugs valued at nearly Rs 9 lakh. The police conducted a raid in Vagator on Saturday morning after receiving a tip-off. They found Govekar with cocaine, methamphetamine, and ecstasy. The total value of the drugs on the international market is around Rs 8.9 lakh. According to ANC officer Sajith Pillai, Govekar had been under surveillance for weeks. He changed his delivery times to avoid attention but continued to operate during the day. The ANC used technical means and informants to track him. During the arrest, the police seized 37 grams of cocaine, 37 grams of methamphetamine, and 15 ecstasy tablets. They also confiscated a car that Govekar used for drug deliveries.
