Annabel Yao becomes face of Huawei's Pura X smartphone

Annabel Yao, the daughter of Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei, has been named the new face of the company's Pura X foldable smartphone. This marks her first public role as a brand ambassador for Huawei. Yao was introduced in a post on Huawei’s official Weibo account, where she was referred to as a "new close friend" of the Pura brand. The announcement received a positive response from fans, with many expressing support for her involvement. Born in 1998, Yao graduated from Harvard University in 2021. She initially pursued a career in entertainment but is now taking on this significant role with her father’s company. Prior to promoting the Pura X, she was the global spokesperson for the electric vehicle maker Avita, partnering with Huawei for technology. The Pura X was launched by Huawei on January 20. It features a unique design that combines clamshell and book-style elements. When folded, it looks like a compact book, and when opened, it becomes a small tablet. The device comes with a 16:10 screen ratio, which is wider than the 22:9 ratio of popular competitors. Huawei has not revealed the chipset for the Pura X, but the phone boasts impressive specifications including up to 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage, and a 4,720 mAh battery. It also has a powerful camera system with a 50 MP main sensor and a price starting at 7,499 yuan (about US$1,034). The Pura X is currently available for pre-order in China, but there has been no information released about international sales.
