Annular solar eclipse to showcase 'ring of fire' over South America and Pacific on Wednesday
An annular solar eclipse, known as a "ring of fire," will occur on Wednesday. It will be visible mainly over Easter Island and parts of Argentina and Chile, with a partial eclipse seen in Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Hawaii. During this type of eclipse, the moon covers most of the sun, leaving a ring-shaped sliver visible. This happens because the moon is farther from Earth in its orbit and cannot fully block the sun's light. To safely view the eclipse, special solar eclipse glasses are required. Regular sunglasses are not safe. Alternative viewing methods include using a pinhole projector or observing shadows under a tree.
