Annular solar eclipse visible in South America today but not in India
On October 2, 2024, an annular solar eclipse, known as the "ring of fire," will occur. The moon will cover about 93% of the sun, creating a bright outer rim. This event will be visible mainly in southern Chile and Argentina. Indian observers will not see this eclipse. Safety is important for those in the viewing path, who should use certified solar eclipse glasses or safe viewing methods like pinhole projectors. While India misses this eclipse, there are future opportunities. Two partial solar eclipses will occur in 2025, and a total solar eclipse will be visible in 2026 from parts of Greenland, Iceland, and Spain.
