The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a case against Vidadala Rajini, a former minister and leader of the YSR Congress Party. She is accused of extorting Rs 2.20 crore, or about $265,000, from the owners of Sri Lakshmi Balaji Stone Crushers in Andhra Pradesh. The case also involves senior Indian Police Service officer Palle Joshua and two others. An investigation by the vigilance and enforcement department found evidence of misconduct and misuse of power. This inquiry began after a complaint was made by Nallapaneni Chalapathi Rao, the managing partner of the stone crushers company. Rao alleged that Rajini, along with her brother-in-law Vidadala Gopi, her personal assistant Dodda Ramakrishna, and Joshua, forced him to pay Rs 2 crore to Rajini. The other suspects are also accused of demanding Rs 10 lakh each. Following the findings of the vigilance department, they submitted a report to the state government. The report recommended that the ACB carry out a detailed investigation into the matter.
