Antoinette Keegan to run for National Party in general election to support Stardust fire victims
Antoinette Keegan, a campaigner for the Stardust fire victims, will run as a National Party candidate in the Fingal East constituency for the upcoming general election. She aims to raise awareness of the ongoing struggles faced by families affected by the 1981 tragedy. Keegan's sisters died in the Stardust fire, which killed 48 people. An inquest recently ruled the victims were unlawfully killed, prompting a State apology from the government. However, Keegan noted that a promised €24 million redress scheme has not yet been distributed. In her campaign, Keegan plans to address issues like homelessness, housing transparency, and healthcare for the elderly. She also advocates for improved building regulations and increased funding for the Dublin Fire Brigade.
