Apple cider vinegar may lower fasting blood glucose levels
Recent studies suggest that apple cider vinegar may help lower fasting blood glucose levels over time. Consuming 15-30 milliliters daily could reduce the risk of diabetes and improve cholesterol levels. However, evidence is limited regarding vinegar's immediate effects on blood sugar spikes after meals. While acidic foods can influence carbohydrate digestion, vinegar taken just before eating may not significantly reduce spikes. Experts note that acidic foods can affect the enzyme amylase, which breaks down carbohydrates. Adding acidic dressings to meals is generally safe, but frequent consumption may harm dental health.
