Apple releases iOS 18.2 update to fix Passwords app security flaw
Apple has released the iOS 18.2 update to fix a security vulnerability in its Passwords app. This issue allowed attackers to potentially alter network traffic and compromise user data by using unencrypted HTTP to download website icons. The vulnerability was reported by security researcher Tommy Mysk in September. The update now uses HTTPS for secure data transmission, addressing the risk of malicious networks manipulating icon downloads. In addition to the security fix, the 18.2 update introduces new AI features for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, including Genmoji and a ChatGPT-powered Siri. The update is available for all compatible devices.
