Apple to manufacture AirPods in India for global markets
Apple will begin manufacturing AirPods in India, marking a significant shift in its production strategy. This follows the successful establishment of iPhone manufacturing in the country, aiming to make India a key production hub outside of China. Production will occur at two facilities: Jabil’s factory in Pune for casings and a new Foxconn site in Telangana for final assembly. Apple plans to focus on exporting AirPods globally, as demand in India is lower. This expansion occurs without the usual production incentives for electronics. Apple’s commitment to India remains strong, with plans to export $14 billion worth of iPhones next year, further solidifying India's role in the global tech supply chain.
