Apple's M4 MacBook Pro dominates 2024 PC market share

Apple's MacBook Pro has become a favorite among consumers, largely due to the new M4 chip. Launched in 2024, this new technology has helped Apple secure a remarkable 86% of its PC market share. The M4 chip has been a major upgrade for Apple’s laptops, particularly the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. A report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) shows that consumers preferred the M4 MacBook Pro, which accounted for 53% of sales. The MacBook Air followed with 33% and iMac models made up 14%. These numbers are similar to those from the previous year. Apple has managed to stay strong despite challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic. The MacBook Pro's popularity has steadily risen since the introduction of the M-series chips in 2020, especially due to improvements in performance and battery life. Consumers appreciate the balance of high performance and portability that the MacBook Pro offers compared to the iMac. Even though the MacBook Pro is in the higher price range, this has not stopped consumers from buying it, especially with increasing sales and discounts. For example, the 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro model was recently discounted by $200, selling for $1,400 on Amazon. Additionally, the M4 MacBook Air was released in early 2025. Apple claims it is the most powerful MacBook Air yet, but shipment figures are not available yet. Early reviews, however, have been positive, leaving anticipation for how well it will perform in the market.
