Summary: The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has announced a $68.2 million funding package for 65 projects aimed at revitalizing coal-impacted communities in Appalachia. This is the largest investment from the POWER Initiative since its launch in 2015.

The funding is expected to create over 2,400 jobs and train more than 10,500 workers across 10 states, including Alabama, Kentucky, and West Virginia. The projects will focus on industries like advanced manufacturing, healthcare, and workforce development.

Since 2015, ARC has invested nearly $485 million in similar initiatives, impacting 365 counties and supporting almost 54,000 jobs. A new application notice for the POWER Initiative is expected in early 2025.
