Ariyalur promotes sustainable mining practices during ME&MC Week
The mining and geology community has been encouraged to adopt new techniques and follow laws to promote sustainable mining practices. G.C. Sethi, the Regional Controller of Mines for the Indian Bureau of Mines in Chennai, spoke about this at the conclusion of Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation (ME&MC) Week in Ariyalur. Sethi emphasized that Tamil Nadu is a mineral-rich state and highlighted the need for a clean and green mining environment. Forty-three mines took part in the event, which was organized by the ME&MC Council in Tamil Nadu and Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. K. Vinayagamurthi, Executive Director of Dalmia Cement, noted that ME&MC Week allowed the industry to connect with local communities and demonstrate their commitment to responsible mining. He mentioned the importance of empowering the workforce and fostering sustainable practices. The event also included an awards ceremony that recognized people and organizations for their contributions to environmental conservation and sustainable mining. Awards were given to those who have shown outstanding commitment to these important principles.
