Armed police arrest three after facial slashing incident

Armed police surrounded a car in Southport after a man in his 30s was slashed in the face. The incident took place on Saturday evening, March 22. Police received a call about the attack and quickly arrived at the scene on Manchester Road. The victim was taken to the hospital but has since been discharged. A video shared on social media shows armed officers pointing guns at a car on Stafford Road. This was related to the earlier attack, and police made arrests at that location. Merseyside Police arrested three individuals in connection with the incident. Michael McLean, a 34-year-old man from Lydiate, has been charged with serious wounding and possession of a knife in public. He is being held in custody and is expected to appear in court today. A 48-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of wounding, helping an offender, and drug possession. She has been released on bail while investigations continue. Additionally, a 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has also been granted bail. Detective Inspector Ted Barr emphasized that knife violence is dangerous and unacceptable. He urged the public to report anyone carrying weapons.
