Army defeats Elon in CBI Tournament first round

Jalen Rucker and Jorn Everson led the Army basketball team to a close win over Elon in the first round of the CBI Tournament. The final score was 83-78, with the game held at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. Rucker scored 27 points and also contributed six assists for Army. Everson followed with 22 points, making 8 out of 12 shots, including four 3-pointers. Ryan Curry scored 14 points, hitting 4 of 9 from beyond the arc. For Elon, Sam Sherry was a standout player. He finished with 23 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocks. Isaac Harrell added 20 points and seven rebounds, while Andrew King chipped in 18 points. Army entered the second half trailing by nine points. However, they turned the game around by outscoring Elon 53-39 in the second half. With this win, Army, now 17-15, will face Florida Gulf Coast in the quarterfinals on Monday.
