Arshdeep Singh retained by Punjab Kings for 18 crore at IPL 2025 auction
Arshdeep Singh was the first player auctioned at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Sunrisers Hyderabad initially bid Rs 15.75 crore, but Punjab Kings retained him for Rs 18 crore using their Right-to-Match card after intense bidding from six teams. In the 2024 IPL season, Singh was a standout performer, taking 19 wickets in 14 innings. His best performance was 5/32 against Rajasthan Royals. Prior to the auction, he unfollowed Punjab Kings on social media, raising questions about his future. Punjab Kings also retained Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh while releasing several players, including Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow. The team opted to retain Singh at a higher price than their initial bid.
