Art exhibition critiques Hong Kong's corporate culture
A new art exhibition called "Re:Urgent" is taking place at Young Soy Gallery in Central, Hong Kong. It features a unique setup that mimics an office environment, complete with four cubicles and a boss’ office. The exhibition aims to challenge the strict corporate culture in Hong Kong. The space is designed to look like a typical executive office, with an ashtray, mini-flags, and other familiar decorations. However, it serves as a scene for creative expression against the backdrop of a competitive finance district. Curator Renee Lui explains that the goal is to “subvert the office space that we are working in every day.” Each of the four artists showcases their work in a standard cubicle, while artist Dominic Johnson-Hill displays his art in the boss's office. His setup draws from his experiences of working in Beijing for 28 years. The exhibition highlights how rigid office environments can be transformed into spaces for creativity and artistic expression.
