ASI injured by drug dealer's car in Chemmanamkunnu
An assistant sub-inspector was injured in an incident involving a suspected drug dealer on Monday night. The event took place in Chemmanamkunnu, near Kavassery. The officer, Uvais Periyamkulam, 46, suffered a fractured left leg after being struck by a car. Uvais and his team from the Vadakkanchery police station had responded to complaints about drug activity in the area. They arrived at about 8 p.m. on three motorcycles and approached a driver in a parked car. Instead of cooperating, the driver accelerated, hitting the police officers as he fled. On Tuesday, the police arrested a 20-year-old suspect named Prathul Poolakkalparambu from Karukachal in Kottayam district. Authorities also recovered a small amount of MDMA from him during the arrest. The investigation is ongoing as police continue to address drug-related issues in the region.
