Asif Ali seeks confidence for bigger character roles
Asif Ali, a popular Malayalam actor, recently opened up about his acting challenges and aspirations in an interview. He is best known for his role as a police officer in the hit film Rekhachithram. Asif expressed joy over the movie's success but shared that playing the cop was not easy since he and his co-star did not share any scenes together. In the interview, Asif admitted that he struggles with confidence when taking on larger-than-life characters. He mentioned feeling inferior when portraying stylized police roles because he has a smaller build compared to typical action heroes. He pointed out that many real-life police officers look more like him, which is why he prefers to play relatable characters. Asif also discussed his upcoming film, Tiki Taka. He believes this project will allow him to step into a larger-than-life role, similar to Yash's character in KGF. He mentioned undergoing significant physical changes for this role, including gaining weight and getting fit. Unfortunately, he experienced an injury during filming, which left him bedridden for three months. He emphasized the importance of having a clear script before taking on any project. Asif noted that working with younger directors has given him more freedom and creativity compared to his earlier experiences in the industry. Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be a busy year for him, with roles in Tiki Taka and two other films set to release.
