Assassin's Creed Shadows features a condensed Japan map
The map in Assassin's Creed Shadows features a detailed and condensed version of central Japan. It is designed with nine regions filled with historical landmarks, quests, and settlements. Compared to previous games, it offers a balanced size, being bigger than AC Mirage but smaller than the vastness of AC Odyssey. The entire map measures around 14 kilometers from north to south, and just under 10 kilometers from east to west. This provides players with a range of areas to explore while keeping activities close at hand. The nine regions include: - **Izumi Settsu**: This is where players start their journey. It includes the Assassin's Creed Shadows Hideout, Sakai, and the city of Osaka. - **Yamashiro**: Home to the largest city, Kyoto, and the famous Nijo Palace, which offers powerful armor. - **Harima**: A mountainous area known for Himeji Castle, where players can find certain targets. - **Omi**: The largest province featuring Lake Biwa and Azuchi Castle, as well as opportunities for romance. - **Iga**: Naoe's home region, small and mountainous, where players can recruit an ally. - **Wakasa**: Located on the northern coast, it includes cities like Obama and Tsuruga. - **Yamato**: Known for rolling hills and small towns, plus the significant Todaiji temple. - **Tamba**: This region contains Takeda, Fukuchiyama, and Miyazu Bay. - **Kii**: A less populated area with jungle hills, offering unique quests. While much of the interesting gameplay is concentrated inland, there are also seas and extra landscapes surrounding the map, adding to the exploration experience. Players will need to accumulate in-game currency to unlock fast travel options and discover hidden locations effectively.
