Asteroid set to become Earth's temporary mini moon starting tomorrow night
An asteroid named 2024 PT5 is set to enter Earth's orbit tomorrow night, acting as a temporary "mini moon" for about two months. Unlike the moon, it will not complete a full orbit but will follow a horseshoe path. The asteroid, part of the Arjuna asteroid belt, will be too dim to see with the naked eye or standard telescopes. It will eventually return to its orbit around the sun and won't come back until 2055. Skywatchers can look forward to the Draconid meteor shower from October 6 to 10, peaking around October 8-9. Additionally, Comet C/2023 A3 is expected to be bright and visible between September 27 and October 2.
