Astrodome Conservancy reveals plans for $1 billion transformation project
The Astrodome Conservancy unveiled new plans on Wednesday to transform the unused Astrodome into a 450,000-square-foot multi-use space. The project, called "Vision Astrodome," is estimated to cost around $1 billion, with $250 million from taxpayers. The proposal includes a public events arena and commercial real estate, along with a boulevard connecting to NRG Stadium. However, RodeoHouston expressed concerns, stating the plan does not align with their operational needs and that they are exploring other options for NRG Park. Harris County commissioners will ultimately decide the Astrodome's future. The Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation is currently gathering financial data to evaluate the proposal and ensure it meets public needs.
